Marina was born at Smuggler Mine where her parents worked. Family moved to Matterhorn and then Ophir. Marina lived some years with the Visintine family, while attending school in Telluride. After graduating high school she went to nursing school and then worked for Dr. Parker at the American Legion Hospital. Leighton's father was a beekeeper. Leighton worked in various mines over the years. Leighton ran the beekeeping business, while his father was the County Assessor. Other topics include Ophir and Ophir Loop; Italian community in Telluride; 1918 flu epidemic; depression years.
