Construction begins on the new gymnasium with grading and foundation walls, 1950. To the south, left to right, are Leslie J. Savage Library, Crawford Hall, Ouray Hall and Keating Hall. W Mountain overlooks all.
View of Keating Hall from the south, ca. 1940. The smokestack from the campus heating plant can be seen behind (north of) the cafeteria; Ouray Hall is to the east.
Keating Hall viewed from the south-southeast shortly after its completion, ca. 1938. Ouray Hall is on the right (east); Coronado Hall is barely visible on the left (west). Keating Hall was named for John F. Keating, superintendent of Pueblo schools and a strong supporter of Western. He was a summer school faculty member at Western and served as president for one summer.
Color view of Ouray Hall from the northeast, 1950s. Ouray Hall was built with federal grants and loans as a men's dormitory in 1937 during the Samuel Quigley administration.
View of Ouray Hall from the south-southeast, circa early 1950s. Mountaineer Gymnasium is in the background. Ouray Hall was located approximately where Mears Hall is today.
