Girls' basketball team, Eagle County High School, 1916-1917. The building at the far right is the Odd Fellows' Hall. At one time, Eagle County High School basketball games were played in the building’s second story.

George Washington Messersmith sits on a small porch with his granddaughters, Mary Ellen (left) and Evelyn Urdine Douthit (right). The photo was taken around 1930 in front of Urdine Bell & William Henry Lea's home in Gypsum, Colorado (George Washington's daughter and son-in-law). The log cabin in the picture was also on the property and once was home to William Lea's mother, Johanna Harrison Lea, and his sister, Ada Lea (Sprague).

Early Gypsum where tents provided original services: hotel, stores, saloon, restaurant. Meals at the Eagle Hotel were 35 cents, a bed was 25 cents. All of these services were located across from the train depot. The location is close to present day Railroad Ave. and Second Street.
