Mountaineer Bowl was begun in 1948 and completed in 1959 with the construction of the gate house at the south end of the stadium. This photograph captures W Mountain and Escalante Heights as well as the the football game in full action on the field.
Construction begins on the new gymnasium with grading and foundation walls, 1950. To the south, left to right, are Leslie J. Savage Library, Crawford Hall, Ouray Hall and Keating Hall. W Mountain overlooks all.
By the mid-1970s WSC's Commencement was being held in Mountaineer Bowl, weather permitting. This photo appears on the cover of the 1975-76 WSC Bulletin.
