The Salt Well southeast of McCoy. "Early settlers gave it this name because of the waters salty taste. It is a deep natural spring about forty feet in diameter with a steady year-around flow of water which remains at approximately the same temperature in all seasons. "The Balanced Rock near the present Ronald Kirby ranch or former Quinlan place was once in the middle of the river, but when the Dotsero Cut-off was built, the river was relocated and shifted south to avoid a sharp curve in the track, which isolaed the rock in still water.
